Using PuTTY for IRC chatting on a Windows computer

Why would you use PuTTY?

If you want to log in to your vps from for example a windows computer, you can use PuTTY. In this short manual I will describe how you recall an active irssi session or how to start an irssi session on your VPS using nothing more than a simple usb stick with this program called PuTTY on it.

About PuTTY

PuTTY is a free and open-source terminal emulator, serial console and network file transfer application. It supports several network protocols, including SCP, SSH, Telnet, rlogin, and raw socket connection. The name “PuTTY” has no definitive meaning.

PuTTY was originally written for Microsoft Windows, but it has been ported to various other operating systems. Official ports are available for some Unix-like platforms, with work-in-progress ports to Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X, and unofficial ports have been contributed to platforms such as Symbian, Windows Mobile and Windows Phone.
